The New England School of Oom Yung Doe will be holding a Youth Traditional Martial Arts (TMA) Tournament at the Wakefield School of Oom Yung Doe on Saturday May 19, 2012. The tournament is open to all youth students under the age of 18. The participants can compete in a variety of style categories as well as a Dan Hyung category. The goal of any TMA tournament is not to win over others but to win over yourself. Training to improve presents a positive challenge for students of all ages. Practicing for a tournament helps build skill, patience, confidence, greater self-respect and camaraderie with other students.

In general, we recommend that students participate in at least 2 categories: One category that is a strength and a different category that is a weaker area. In this way, students can advance a personal skill and work to improve and develop new skills. Constantly challenging oneself to be better is a principle of Traditional Martial Arts.

To learn more or to register, visit the Youth Tournament page. If you would like to register your child for the tournament but are unclear what events to enroll in, you can speak with the main instructor at your school to put a plan together. Tournament practice will be part of the children’s lessons between now and the tournament.

On the day of the tournament there will also be an 8 martial arts demonstration. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

One of the strengths of Oom Yung Doe training is the chance for every student, from beginning to advanced, to learn from the Master Level Teaching (MLT) Team. The MLT Team is made up of international level 8th degree black belts and Masters. Rarely in the United States has the rank of 7th degree black belt or higher been bestowed on an individual. Lifelong dedication to the study of traditional martial arts – mind, body, and spirit, is needed to achieve this level.

Oom Yung Doe students have lessons with the MLT Team from March 29th through April 4th. During this time there will be a variety of lessons for instructors and students depending on each individual’s interests and current training program. Instructors will provide detailed lesson schedules in the schools.

Five Master Level Dan Hyung Seminars will be taught during the week and are available to students of all levels of ability (friends and family are welcome as well). These seminars are a powerful means of developing the mind, body, and spirit. The Master Level Dan Hyung Seminars being taught this round are:

Doe (Double edged straight sword)

Angry Dragon

Kom Doe (Samuri Sword)

Frog Technique

Kum Gung Quan Bope (a mountain form)

Learn more about the Dan Hyung seminars

Traditional Moo Doe has been developed over centuries and many practitioners have dedicated their lives to finding the best ways to develop the mind and body. This knowledge is highly prized in Asia and a school that can teach correct Moo Doe knowledge is not common. In the United States we have only just begun to understand the depth of true Martial Arts knowledge and how to recognize true Moo Doe ability.

Many people wish to have more energy, more mental ability, better health, improved relationships or other advances in quality of life. You can achieve these benefits through the time-proven method of Traditional Martial Arts practice. Regardless of your age or current condition, you can change your reality.
